FAQ

Have A Question About Your Dental Care?

We live by the motto that there is no such thing as a bad question. We’ve compiled a list of the most common questions we receive, and answered them fo you here!

How to prevent cavities?

It may sound simple, but the best way to prevent cavities is to regularly brush and floss your teeth. Brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. In addition to regular brushing and flossing, schedule regular appointments with Dr. Gairhan to ensure your teeth and jaws remain as healthy as possible.

Do dental treatments hurt?

Most trips to the dentist will not cause any pain whatsoever. That being said, there are some procedures that if necessary for your treatment, may cause some discomfort. Fortunately, dental technology has come a long way in recent years. We have the technology and anesthetics to make all degrees of procedures more comfortable than ever before.

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX Cosmetic is the first and only FDA-approved prescription product that temporarily improves the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and moderate to severe crow’s feet in adults. Dr. Gairhan has received specialized training and is proud to offer BOTOX cosmetic procedures to her patients.

Should I arrive early for my first dental appointment?

Arriving 10-15 minutes early for your first appointment will give you ample time to fill out your new patient paperwork, get acquainted with the office, and file insurance if you have it.

I haven't been to the dentist in years, is it too late?

It is never too late to start taking care of your dental health. You should never feel embarrassed over your previous dental care history. At Gairhan Dental, we offer compassionate, thorough dental care for patients of all backgrounds. We will help assess your dental needs and begin a treatment plan to help you have the healthy smile you’ve always wanted.

What are early signs of dental problems?

Early signs that you may be dealing with a dental problem include difficulty talking or chewing, sore jaw or painful teeth, swollen or red gums or face, and chronic mouth sores or bleeding gums. If you have any of these symptoms, it is important to contact us to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Will insurance cover my dental care?

Some insurance policies offer a dental plan while others do not. You can contact your insurance provider directly to find out if dental care is included in your plan. Our staff is also happy to help you find out more about your insurance coverage if you call or visit the office.

Why should I go to the dentist regularly?

Going to the dentist regularly or “preventative treatment” saves you time and money and makes your dental care experience much more comfortable in the long run. If you wait until you have a problem and only see the dentist for “crisis treatment,” you’re more likely to be dealing with a serious issue that could have been prevented with routine care. Regular dental appointments help keep your smile healthy and vibrant for years to come.

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is a set of dental practices and procedures aimed at improving the overall appearance of your smile. This may include filing in gaps from broken or missing teeth, whitening your teeth, or using veneers.

What causes stains on my teeth?

Stains on teeth can be caused from internal or external factors. External causes for stains includes tobacco use, and prolonged drinking of certain beverages like coffee, tea or red wine. Internal staining can be caused by certain medications, the natural aging process, or trauma to the teeth. No matter the cause for your teeth discoloration, we will find a treatment solution to help your specific case.
